Involvement Advocacy, in collaboration with the McHenry County Libraries, the Northwest Area Arts Council and the YMCA of McHenry County, along with our sponsors, Jewel-Osco, Northwest Herald, RFP Photography and SportDecals is pleased to present "Outside My Window" the 2nd annual countywide art project, celebrating the individuality, diversity and creativity of our community. The project was open to any McHenry County resident. Our 1st project, last year's highly successful "Many Faces One Community" asked residents to look at themselves and create an image for all to see-it was "all about me." This year we asked our friends and neighbors to look at how they "see" world of McHenry County-- the beauty, ritual, treasure (or trash), cultural heritage, etc. "Outside My Window" drew 108 submissions. The artists represent 16 communities in McHenry County. The youngest artist is 3, the oldest 91. Thank you to everyone who participated, and to those of you who are planning on viewing the exhibition either in-person or online. Countrywide Exhibition The "Outside My Window" exhibition opens Saturday March 31, 2006 at 10 library locations, the Huntley REC Center and the YMCA in Crystal Lake. The 12-site exhibition runs through Sunday April 22. Note, not all locations are open on Sunday. See Display Locations below for a complete list of locations and hours. Led by project curator Lynn Carlson, with assistance from Michelle Zimmerman and her art students at McHenry West High School, we have created 12 distinct exhibitions. Each of the shows has its own unique style and personality. We encourage you to visit as many of the exhibitions as possible. For those unable to traverse the entire county, please feel free to view our Digital Exhibition.
